Monday night at Nell's (and Gladio's)

This would be the first time everyone would get together at the now shared residence of Nell and Gladio. The overall decor hadn't changed much, though the number of books had at least doubled and there were 100% more swords around.

Nell had made a delicious all vegetable stew as well as a similar beef stew that was more than a little spicy. She made fresh sourdough bread to go with them both and had biscuits ready to pop into the oven for a mixed berries and cream version of strawberry shortcake for later.

"That makes it sound far too much as if we'uns is getting married," Nell said with a laugh. "And it's been more like a big weekend of moving in and getting settled."

"Congratulations on... being done with the move?" Steven offered, in case that was better.

[mylandmyrules]

"Much better," Nell said cheerfully. "And you're in luck,I successfully prevented him from eating everything I cooked before you arrived."

"That is appreciated as knowing you'd be cooking I did make sure to bring my appetite," Steven said. "Is there anything I can help with?"

[mylandmyrules]

"No, no," Nell said with a smile. "Just come in and make yourself comfortable. Be careful of Gladio's swords in the other room and watch out for kittens underfoot, but otherwise everything should be in order. We usually grab some food and settle in in the living room."

"Right," Steven said with a smile. "I'll help by getting out of the way then."

[mylandmyrules]

"Everything is done," Nell said, "beyond the eating and friendship parts. Which are, of course, the best parts."

[hasaknightjob]

"Indeed," Steven said. "I'm glad I was able to come over. Especially so soon after you invited me. Might not always be able to make it, but it's good to feel welcome."

[mylandmyrules]

"You're always welcome," Nell assured him, "but I understand that people can't always be here, so no worries on that account. I'll just be happy to see you whenever you do make it by."

"I appreciate the understanding," Steven said. "And how are you? Things going well? Plants all right in spite of the cold?"

[mylandmyrules]

"Oh yes," Nell said. "The more delicate plants are downstairs under special lights, but most of them are hardy souls. And, of course, the greenhouse stays warm between the sunlight and a small heater."

"That's good to hear," Steven said. "And the bees? All cuddled in their hive with warm scarves on?"

[mylandmyrules]

"And nice warm tiny blankets," Nell said with a grin. "They're as snug as I can make them and fingers crossed they'll winter over well."

[hasaknightjob]

"Excellent news," Steven said. "Wouldn't want them to be uncomfortable."

Yes, there was a slight stress on the be. It was Steven after all.

[mylandmyrules]

Nell laughed again. "I'm sure they'll be buzzing around just fine come spring."

[hasaknightjob]

"And even more honey this year than last, right?" Steven asked, to see if he remembered it correctly. "Because they've had a chance to get used to their home?"

[mylandmyrules]

"Yes," Nell said. "They'll have enough saved up that I can take more from the hive. I should have a fair amount next year."

[hasaknightjob]

"Well count me in among those looking forward to purchasing then," Steven told her.

[mylandmyrules]

"I'll make a note of that," Nell said with a smile. "I'm really looking forward to being able to use it in the things I make - at least the really special ones."

"Course I am obligated to say anything you make is special," Steven told her.

Nell laughed, "You're really not, but I appreciate it."
