Tuesday Night Baseball at Nell's

Nell had everything clean and ready to go by the time people were to arrive. She'd made a batch of vegan brownies since the Detective was planning to join them tonight and she wanted to make sure he could have something sweet as well should he choose.

She was bustling along as usual and marveling once again at the sheer amazement and wonder of not only having friends, but being able to have them at her house without fear of reprisal. It was a good feeling, even if there was a tinge of sadness over other things.

Nell also couldn't help but smile after hearing on radio that apparently one of the classes yesterday had been about baseball. Maybe they all should have attended!

Baseball, as it turns out, at least for this group of aliens and might as well be, was an anything you'd like sort of activity. Who knew?

Nell opened the door and took in a deep breath. "Oh, Detective, those smell wonderful! Please, come in, hospitality and safety to you while you're here. You can just go straight through there to the kitchen. Gladio is in there already."

“Evening, Ms. Ingram,” Watts nodded, taking off his hat and hanging it on… well, whatever was funniest, really before heading over to the kitchen.

Nell carefully retrieved his hat as he went past her and hung it from a hook by the door.

"There are a selection of beers in the refrigerator as well as water and some sodas," Nell said. "Or I can make you some tea or coffee if you prefer. Most of the snacks should be fine - the brownies are vegan - though I think the jalapeno things Ignis made for us have cheese. Please make yourself at home."

Watts was appreciative of the consideration regarding the brownies.

“I am not quite as strict about keeping vegan when not in Steven’s company,” he admitted. “I don’t mind a bit of dairy here and there, but I do appreciate you letting me know all the same,” he acknowledged.

He took the listing of what was in the refrigerator as an invitation and picked out a can of cola. “Cheers, thank you.”

"Oh, well, you're welcome to whatever you'd like then," Nell said. "We sometimes have ice cream with our brownies, which I wouldn't offer to you normally since it's not vegan, but you're welcome to that as well later, if you'd like. I'm just glad you joined us. Steven said he thought you might be interested."

Though it had been quite a while since Steven had expressed any worry about Watts ‘missing out’ due to his dietary choices, it was in fact quite likely that his beau would actually be pleased if Watts took Nell up on that offer of ice cream.

“It has been a while since I have watched a baseball game,” Watts said. “But it was an enjoyable experience.”

"You may be able to help us out if we get confused then," Nell said, "Though Gladio is pretty knowledgeable about it now. Please grab some food and come find a seat. We don't stand much on ceremony here, it's mostly a nice way to spend an evening with friends."

“The game may have changed in a hundred-odd years,” Watts pointed out. “So many other things have.”

He fixed himself a plate, though, and went to find someplace to sit and watch the game.

"No worries," Nell said. "We've decided that we're fine with making up random reasons for things if we want."

What a wild group you find yourself among, Detective!

“Random reasons?” Watts echoed.

"Sure," Nell said with a smile. "Like, oh, I bet the reason he had to turn around and go back to the start was because he saw a crow flying over and that's bad luck, so they called a do-over."

She smiled at him. "Extra points for silliness."

“I have been told my skills when it comes to imagination are- lacking,” Watts admitted apologetically. “I am not terribly good at silly.”

As hard as that may be to believe.

"Tha's okay," Nell said easily. "It's not a requirement. Just don't judge us too much if we say ridiculous things. It's not really so much about the baseball as it is about friends being together."
