Tuesday Night at Nell's

Nell was still a bit distracted and a little worried that she hadn't heard anything from Gladio, but again, missing a gym time was not something she needed to call and check on - though she wanted to. Undoubtedly he'd stroll in tonight with some fun drink to try and a story about his day and she'd feel foolish about ever being concerned at all.

In the meantime she had her usual food stuffs to set out along with some raspberry hand tarts that she'd made while she was not worrying.

And there was Watts, of course not yet aware that anything might be amiss, with his usual offering of cinnamon rolls.

"Hello, Detective," Nell said with not quite her usual level of cheer. "Come in, hospitality and safety to you. I do hope you're feeling better. Steven said you were on the mend."

“Much improved, thank you,” Watts said with a nod, taking his hat off with a flourish and once again depositing it somewhere not meant for hats. “And how are you?”

Nell absentmindedly picked up his hat and accidentally put it somewhere else not meant for hats instead of on its proper peg. Yes, your hat had its own peg, Detective, but it was going unused tonight. "I'm doing well," she said, "looking forward to your cinnamon rolls. They really are quite delicious."

Yes, but why put it where it belonged when a running gag was much funnier?

“And here I thought I might be boring everyone with these at this point,” he said, indicating the container he’d brought with him.

"Never," Nell said. "How could anyone be bored with delicious cinnamon rolls?"

“I don’t pretend to know what goes on in anyone’s mind but my own,” Watts said. “And even that is sometimes questionable.”

Nell managed a little laugh. "We can all only do the best we can," she said, "but I think your doing just fine."

“Glad to hear it,” Watts told her solemnly. “Though speaking of things that are going on- are you busy next Friday? Not the one coming up, but following that?”

Nell looked at him and couldn't help but laugh. Kindly. "It's very sweet of you to ask, Detective, but the only nights I'm busy are these Tuesdays, so yes, I'm free in two Fridays. Do you need me to watch your cat, because I'm happy to do that for you!"

“I- no, that’s. Not necessary. But I am- it is my birthday next week, on Tuesday in fact, and Steven is arranging a- dinner party the following Friday. I should like very much if you would attend.”

"Oh, Detective, I'd be honored," she said. "Of course I'll come. Thank you."

“Excellent,” he flashed a pleased smile at her. Followed by mild confusion as he realized who wasn’t present tonight. “I expected to see Mr. Amicitia here, to extend an invitation to him as well.”

"Oh. Um, well..." Nell looked around as if she half expected to see him materialize out of a dark corner. "He... seems to be... no one knows where he is at the minute. Ignis says he never came home last night." Did she tell him about Prompto?

"Prompto doesn't seem to be around either."

“How decidedly odd,” Watts frowned. One person unaccounted for was worrying, two- two could possibly be a pattern, particularly given the close association between said two people.

Odd was one word for it.

"I..." Nell took in a deep breath and let it out again. "I'm kind of wondering if they might have gotten pulled home. Same way they got pulled here without warning in the fall."
