43 Unicorn: Saturday morning

It always took Nell a moment to orient herself in the morning - especially when she wasn't alone in her bed when she woke up. Given that this was only the third time it had happened she supposed she could be forgiven for that.

It was still a little early, even for her, so she closed her eyes again and smiled as she moved even a little closer to his warmth.

He'd come over last night and joined her on the roof to tell her all about his day - though, as she'd suspected, it took a while for them to get past the first kissing part of the evening. It had been lovely to sit with him up under the stars and even nicer in a stomach fluttering way to take him downstairs into the house then into her bed rather than kissing him goodbye and sending him on his way.

She wasn't quite ready yet for full intimacy, but she did truly love the kissing and touching that they'd progressed to and especially the whole falling asleep in his arms part. And now the whole waking up in his arms part.

Her brain told her it was time to get up, make some breakfast for her and her guest and just generally get her morning started. Her body, however, planned to stay right where it was for some time yet. So that's just what she did.

Therein was the problem, really, when you had two people who were quite accustomed and even made a point of often beating the sun in waking up and threw them into a situation where even their own stubborn motivations were put to the test because staying in bed was actually much more appealing/

Or, well, maybe it wasn't much of a problem at all, since Gladio seemed to have absolutely no issues with it as he felt himself started to wake up in response to Nell waking up beside him, to let out a faint little grunt of acknowledgement and then roll in a way that ensured his arms were good and around her and his face was nuzzling into his hair and he was starting to see the appeal in that whole 'sleeping in' thing people were always talking about so much.

Sleeping in turned out to be unexpectedly wonderful. She smiled and made a happy sound as he nuzzled her hair, wrapping an arm around him with her hand flat to his back to hold him right there. Her eyes weren't open yet, she was letting herself just bask in his warmth and love.

And with Nell snuggled in closer, the wisps of sleepiness were dissipating, but slowly, taking their damn time for once. There was now a smile there in her hair, and soon there would be fingers trailing through its length and brushing against her back in the process, too, and, eventually, a murmur, a rumble, that might've sounded a bit like a "'Morning" if you knew to listen for it.

"Morning," she murmured back, letting her fingers do a little exploring of his back. "A very good morning, actually.". She was in no hurry to get up, or indeed to move much more than she was currently.

"Definitely a Top Five Mornings contender," Gladio agreed.

The restlessness was going to catch up with him eventually, but for now, he felt it had a good lap or so to go before it did.

"Sleep okay?"

Hers too. She was not one to lie abed - even when she probably should. But like him, for now...

"I slept wonderfully," she said. "I could get used to this. You?"

"Like a rock," Gladio murmured approvingly, with maybe a bit of pride at the idea that Nell was really coming around to appreciate these little sleepovers (as if he'd really had to fight long and hard for them, too).

"And you are very comfortable," he informed her. Definitely her, not just the bed, as he shifted a little to prove it for maximum comfort around her.

"You're very comfortable yourself," she said with a shy smile. "I always sleep so well and feel so comforted in your arms."

She nuzzled into him a little, then stretched up to kiss him. "And then ther6e always this."

"Mmm." There was a soft hum of agreement, but Gladio was definitely going to let his kiss in response do most of the talking on that one. It was the kind of slow, lingering kiss perfect for that lazy, half-asleep window of time (usually very short for him, but this morning was clearly an exception) before being fully awake, the kind of kiss that also took advantage of the fact that his fingers had already been working through her hair, as well.

"That is a pretty good part, too," he murmured, toward the end of it. "And I'm glad it's comfortable for you, too."

In a few different ways!

"Could probably just as easily feel like sleeping with a rock, too."

Nell laughed and patted his chest. "Rock solid, but very comfortable to sleep on nonetheless. I've always preferred my pillows to be firm."

She yawned and stretched a little. "I love this, but I don't think I can lie in bed much longer. Sun's already up."

You'd think no one had ever complimented his chest before, the way that pat made Gladio grin like he'd just won the top prize in a game, and he was definitely going to try and take advantage of that stretch to sneak in a kiss again Nell's neck while she was doing it.

"What do you want to do?" he asked. "Get up, maybe get a little breakfast, go for a run? Come back here, more breakfast, then maybe get ready to hit the carnival? I signed up for a dunk booth, you know."

"Cup of coffee, then a run," Nell said. "I want to go by that area of the woods just to be sure ask is well now."

She smiled at him, "Then breakfast and carnival, especially if you're in the dunk tank."

"Make that first part of a Cup of Noodles^TM for me, and you got yourself a deal," Gladio decided, grinning back at Nell and sealing it with another kiss. And, with plans now in order and that eagerness to get started on the day under his skin, he started to roll off the bed and get to his feet. "Think you'll want to drop in on the dance later, too?"

She laughed and said easily out of the bed. "Of course you can have Cup Noodle before you run," she said then stopped and considered. "I... I hadn't thought about that. It might be fun to dance with you again."

"Might be fun?" asked Gladio, brow lifted incredulously.

Just barely out of bed and already cutting to the quick, huh, Ingram?

"Definitely fun," she said with a laugh. "The issue isn't you. I've just never really been to one of those dances. But I'd go with you."

Gladio was just about to express a little surprise that she hadn't even gone when she was a student--they were always a pretty big deal for Prompto--but then he remembered what her usual reasoning for that sort of thing was, back then, and his expression softened.

"We should go then," he decided. "Why not? At least for a few dances, right?"

She might have occasionally gone and hung around the edges, but she couldn't have gone with anyone or danced, so...

She smiled at him. "Let's do that," she agreed. "We can dance a bit and then decide if we want to stay or come back here."
