Monday Night at Nell and Gladio's

It had been a lovely weekend and Nell was feeling happy and relaxed. She'd arranged for someone to open Covent Garden Flowers in case she wasn't able to make it in, so she had the day off. She'd used the time to make some venison stew and some good bread to go with it. She'd also made chocolate chip skillet cookies and a skillet Texas sheet cake to serve with ice cream later.

The rest of the day was spent puttering around the house and spending time with Gladio and the kittens whenever they happened to find her and making sure the house was ready for guests.

It had been a nice weekend, ans the best thing about it was easily the good mood it had Nell in. Getting to finally see Soulwood (and really start to understand the connection she had with it) himself was just an added benefit, though there was definitely a part of him feeling glad to be home again, too.

He was, however, very disappointed in Turtle & Canary for not anticipating exactly what he wanted in a beverage for Monday night, but he supposed a oatmeal milk drink would have to do in lieu of an actual oatmeal soda like he'd wanted.

"Think we're all set for tonight?" He asked, coming back in after his class and errands and checking in at the gym, and needing a moment to just enjoy all the promise of the excellent food in his future, if the good smells permeating the place were anything to go by.

"I think we're good," Nell said, stretching up for her kiss. "I had extra time today since I didn't have work. How was your day?"

There was a little hum of appreciation in returning that kiss, and a grin on Gladio's face. "Well," he looked happy to report, "the gym's all in one piece still, so that was encouraging. And I got in touch with the contractors for the remodel and they're swinging by to get started on Wednesday. Class was a ballpit at a bar, and Summer was looking pretty rough at the store, so I got her to promise to have some Cup Noodle^TM, so hopefully that'll perk her right back up again."

Nell laughed. "Do we need to send her over some?" she asked. "I think we could spare one or two."

She kissed him again, just because she could. "I'll be looking forward to seeing how the remodel turns out!"

"How dare you," said Gladio, grinning as he met that Just-Because kiss with one of his own. "I need every single one of those Cup Noodle^TM, and there's no shortage of them at T&C anyway."

And thank the gods for that; he'd already gone through that kind of shortage before! Never again, if he could help it!

"And me, too," he said, with maybe a little bit of pride creeping into that grin on his face. "I just hope people are into it, but, if anything, I might even start enjoying treadmill run if I've got some good scenery to go along with it, you know?"

Nell just grinned back at him. "It would have been the neighborly thing to do," she teased.

"Oh, yes, scenery would improve things. And it would be nice on days when the steps are all icy," Nell agreed "Running in the woods isn't bad on those days, but the steps and sidewalks are a bit treacherous.

"You know, I'm surprised there's not more people limping into the clinic on those days," Gladio realized.

And didn't glance over to Prompto at all, really.

"But, yeah, good for stormy days, too. Or days when it's raining candy or slime or something around here..."

"Now if we could just have a series of underground tunnels to travel in," Nell said with a grin. "Keeping us safely dry from all sorts of strange weather!"

"I hear you're trying to steal my contractors out from under me," Liliana teased, as if her preferred contractor didn't have enough workers to field multiple projects. "Ignis will be displeased if the game room languishes unfinished and he has no place for his dartboard."

Especially once she sprang her surprise on him.

"Don't worry," Gladio huffed a laugh, holding up a placating hand. "I'm not gonna need 'em for too long, couple days tops. What we're putting up in the gym's a pretty quick and easy job. And if you're going to be complaining to anyone, you should point that finger right back at him. He's the one who insisted I use 'em because he could swing me a deal."

"Oh well a deal," Liliana laughed. "Asking him to pass that up would be a cruelty."

Even if he wasn't directly benefitting from it.
