Monday Night at Nell and Gladio's

It had been a lovely weekend and Nell was feeling happy and relaxed. She'd arranged for someone to open Covent Garden Flowers in case she wasn't able to make it in, so she had the day off. She'd used the time to make some venison stew and some good bread to go with it. She'd also made chocolate chip skillet cookies and a skillet Texas sheet cake to serve with ice cream later.

The rest of the day was spent puttering around the house and spending time with Gladio and the kittens whenever they happened to find her and making sure the house was ready for guests.

"No complaints," said Gladio, with a little bit of a shrug of his shoulder; there were plenty of complaints if he really wanted to have them, but they were hardly anything to bring up in just friendly chit-chat. "Hard to have too many of those with good food and company, right?"

“I’m sure if one dug deep enough they could be found,” Watts said. “Though as you say, this hardly seems the time to air them.”

"Exactly," said Gladio, grinning with a faint snort. "So...? Anything new to not-complain about?"

“The changing of the seasons,” Watts offered. “I am not sorry at all to show winter the door. Metaphorically speaking.”

"Yeah," Gladio huffed a laugh. "Lotta people looking forward to the warmer weather, it seems. I never really minded the cold much, but it will be nice to get outside a lot more."

It was the dark of the shorter days more than the cold that bothered Watts, but he was fine with most people assuming it was the latter. Particularly because he did genuinely prefer warmer weather as well.

"Indeed. It will be cycling weather soon- albeit that is a pastime suited to locales other than this particular island." With all of it's stairs.
