Monday Night at Nell and Gladio's

It had been a lovely weekend and Nell was feeling happy and relaxed. She'd arranged for someone to open Covent Garden Flowers in case she wasn't able to make it in, so she had the day off. She'd used the time to make some venison stew and some good bread to go with it. She'd also made chocolate chip skillet cookies and a skillet Texas sheet cake to serve with ice cream later.

The rest of the day was spent puttering around the house and spending time with Gladio and the kittens whenever they happened to find her and making sure the house was ready for guests.

"Hello, Detective!" Nelll said cheerfully as she redeposited his hat onto the hook just for it. "So nice to see you. How have you been? Not letting the gloomy weather get you down, I hope!"

“Reminding myself we’re at the tail end of winter, spring will be along soon enough,” Watts replied.

"It will indeed," Nell agreed. "I'm looking forward to it myself, though since this is the quiet season of the year for me, I am enjoying it as well."

“Right,” Watts nodded. “With weather warming up I suppose people will be looking for plants to… plant, won’t they?”

[mylandmyrules]

"They will," Nell said. "And I'll be planting all sorts of things to use in my teas and lotions and all of that. And to have fresh vegetables, of course."

“Of course,” Watts said. “I’ve not much of a green thumb myself, I’m far more skilled at eating them than growing them, I’m afraid.”

"Well, that's why there are people like me around," Nell said cheerfully. "I grow them and you can eat them!"

"A most beneficial arrangement, to be sure," Watts agreed.

Nell laughed and sketched a little mock curtsey. "At your service!"

"Well, thank you in advance, Ms. Ingram, for doing your part in making sure I do not waste away to nothing," he said, with a somewhat exaggerated wink.

Nell laughed. "You are most welcome. I'd hate to have to answer to Steven if I let that happen!"

"He does take such things most seriously," Watts said, undeniable fondness in his tone.

"And who could blame him?" Nell said rather fondly herself. "Must keep you in good health!"

"Oh, well," Watts said, looking a little flustered by the idea of not just Steven but also Nell concerning themselves with such things.

Nell concerned herself with the health of all of her friends. So,she just smiled at the Detective and let that be.
