Monday night at Nell's and Gladio's

Nell had not been prepared for the sudden influx of hummingbirds when she arrived up on her roof after work. She'd let them into the greenhouse, leaving the door open, and dashed off to pick up a few hummingbird feeders.

It hadn't been hard to make up a clear sugar syrup for them and place the feeders around the roof where she'd be able to watch them from wherever she was. It was possible some of them would be able to winter over in the greenhouse if she made a sheltered area for them, so she sat herself down to research that.

Gladio hadn't been sure what exactly was drawing him to pick up these particular juice packs at the store tonight, but that became pretty clear to him once he, not finding Nell downstairs when he came in, headed up to the roof to find her and saw all the hummingbirds, too.

"....huh," he said. "Guess it's a thing...."

But never mind that. He grinned at Nell and swooped in for his kiss and then nodded as one of those little birds just flitted by. "Not the company we're used to having, but I can't say I mind."

Wildlife tended to run large and dangerous back home, so he kind of appreciate how often it was the opposite here on Earth.

"Aren't they beautiful?" Nell said, happily returning his kiss. "You'd think it was National Hummingbird Day or something."

Her eyes widened. "Oh no, I lost track of time and never made anything for dinner!"

Gladio paused from where he'd already pulled his phone out to look something up, then shrugged a little and held his phone up. "Well," he said, "we can always just order something or I can call Igs to see if he wants to whip anything up. If we even need to....been pretty slim numbers this past few weeks, but I guess everyone's got a lot going on lately."

"It has been quiet," Nell said, "Which is just fine. Summer is a busier time. As long as people know they're welcome that's the most important thing."

She considered for a moment. "If Ignis and Liliana are stopping by I'm sure I can throw somethin together, but I'm happy to just order something in for the two of us."

"I'm not really sure what they'll be up to," Gladio admitted, although, apparently, a likely option would get catching up on some sleep while the construction crew wasn't working, "but ordering in for just us and a little extra just in case sounds pretty good to me, too. You in the mood for anything in particular?"

Nell thought about it, then shrugged. "Nothing really jumps out. Maybe something spicy?"
