Tuesday Night Baseball at Nell's

Nell had everything clean and ready to go by the time people were to arrive. She'd made a batch of vegan brownies since the Detective was planning to join them tonight and she wanted to make sure he could have something sweet as well should he choose.

She was bustling along as usual and marveling once again at the sheer amazement and wonder of not only having friends, but being able to have them at her house without fear of reprisal. It was a good feeling, even if there was a tinge of sadness over other things.

Nell also couldn't help but smile after hearing on radio that apparently one of the classes yesterday had been about baseball. Maybe they all should have attended!

"How does--" Gladio started, but, being the wise lunk that he was, stopped himself, shook his head, and reminded himself that this was something he was probably better off just...not needing to know.

Well, maybe not from Watts. He was definitely interested in what the racoons might have to say about it, weirdly enough.

"Right," he said, instead. "So. Business as usual, I guess."

“I try not to dwell on it overmuch,” Watts admitted. “It is, after all, a much more pleasant problem to deal with than murder, which is by nature an incredibly unpleasant business.”

"Yeah," Gladio huffed a bit wryly, "I'd definitely say that's a silver lining."

Would raccoon recycling actually involve murder, technically speaking? Gladio had so many questions that he was pretty sure he did not actually want answer to.

That was part of what Watts was trying not to dwell overmuch on, yes.

“Indeed,” Watts said. “Here for a year now and not a single murder, and yet I went back to Toronto for a week in February and got embroiled in two murder cases and an attempted assassination,” not to mention getting shot by the would-be assassin himself, despite not being the target. “Although,” he added, “I’m told one of the murder victims may not be dead after all, which is a twist I was not expecting.”

"Maybe," said Gladio, who had to lift his eyebrows a bit at that, "you just had really good timing. But that's always....an interesting one. When someone you thought was dead...isn't."

Both good and bad, in his experience.
